the double standards rocket turtle

Scotland, Scotland, Scotland! We have another great 4-piece band coming out of this great country! We have The Double Standards, a pop-punk band from Hamilton, Scotland that can rock out with their co..socks out! We have been so blessed to have so many bands reach out to We Sound Strange but Scotland definitely takes the cake for not only having talented bands, but the nicest people you will ever meet. That’s why, when The Double Standards informed us of their new EP release of “Rocket Turtle“, we had to share it with our We Sound Strange family! The track we chose to showcase is our absolutely favorite, “She’s Not As Cool As She Thinks“.

They’ve been together since 2015 and have been touring gigs and writing since then, only getting better and better. These guys are not just starting out; they’ve performed on huge stages like the O2 ABC Mainstage, Classic Grand Mainstage, etc. and they aren’t stopping anytime soon. Just like we’ve asked our other bands from Scotland, we have to figure out a way to get them out to the states and show us Americans what Rock N’ Roll is again.

The intro from the guitar hits you like a jet plane engine turning on towards your face, epic explosion that’s ridiculously forceful. The drummer just pounds on the kit like no other, showing off his skill by speeding up his play on the hi-hats to keep the energy of the track as high as possible, matching the speed and force of the guitar. The vocals keep the track feeling light and fun to poke fun at the girl who’s not as cool as she thinks she is. It’s they’re saying, “We’re The Double Standards, we invented cool”.

Give Hamilton, Scotland some love by listening to The Double Standards new EP, “Rocket Turtle“.
