Most of us would hate the fact that we’re awake at “5 am”, it’s not something that is looked forward to. Many of us have no choice, either by waking up that early, or still being awake from the night before. In this case, Distant Blue stays up thinking of the one that got away, which is one of the worst nights anyone can ever go through because every single situation replays in your head. You’ll always try to think  of other ways that situation could’ve gone differently to have that one special person with you at 5 am, instead of staying up sleepless. This epitomizes Pop Punk because when you think of Pop Punk, this general theme is what you get.

There’s an entirely different way of interpreting what the lyrics mean and there’s also a second way that you think that Distant Blue has done to turn the 5 am aspect  into another sleepless night. The fact that you’re alone at night when all you want is that one special someone with you to be lying by your side but she isn’t, you’re wondering how you can live without her. This can be a great realization if you come to terms that you’ve actually found the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, where 5 am seems so cold without their warmth. The Pop Punk genre does a great job of capturing these feelings through the metal guitar chords and strings. The vocals also add a longing in the voice, a heartbreak yell calling for the one. Take a chance and listen; if you feel lonely, sleep with Distant Blue playing by your side.
